Love Dare Day 39: April 28, 2020

What is Day 39 about:

No marriage will exist without storms; whether or not we endure them is entirely based on our commitment to our spouse and our promise. This chapter talks about how it is our choice during the storms whether or not we will continue to be with our spouse, but remember, Love never fails.

What do I think about the material:

Have you ever been in a storm that seems to be lasting for days? Did that storm eventually end? We live in a flawed world and in that flawed world storms will come. Here is the kicker, what we do during the storm matters most of all to ensure we endure.

There is a concept that I think is lost in today’s society. Love is not an action we perform or words we say. Nor is it a tool we can use to manipulate others. Love is a force that drives us to make decisions. Think about that for a second. When was the last time you did something that wasn’t out of a desire?

I will say that not all choices we make line up with the Love that is our driving source, but at the heart of all choices is a love for something. We choose a job based on salary and benefits, but why? Those rewards from work fill a basic desire that comes from the love of ourselves.

The problem this chapter talks about is what happens when we choose to not listen to that love. If Love was strong enough to pull us together, then can’t it be strong enough to help us endure the tough times? Love is the greatest gift God gave us, and if we learn to help it guide our decisions, then we will never fail. We will never fail because love never fails.

My task and how did I perform the task:

Today’s challenge is to put those Love driven actions to pen and paper. We are to write a letter to our spouse dedicating our love to them. Also, we are to make sure they know we are committed to the marriage for life.

After writing the letter, we are to hide it where our spouse can find it at their leisure. I hid Jess’ note in her desk. She has not found it yet, so I moved it to inside her calendar. I wonder if she will find it today.

Jessica’s reaction:

Since she hasn’t found it yet, I don’t have a response. I will, however update the post when she finds the note.
