To talk about fundamentals, we must remember what that word means. The fundamentals of anything is the absolute requirement to make anything happen. Most of the time when we talk about fundamentals, we think of ideas and principles, but today, let’s talk about the fundamental need for labor.
Working at SEL for 7 years, I experienced many changes. Changes to equipment, processes, tools and major operational changes. One thing remained true, however, was the need for people. Even if a machine came in to replace a process performed by an assembler, there was a need to maintain, clean and calibrate that equipment.
No matter what new technology that comes around, we will always need people as a fundamental role in business. Working in copywriting for over a year now, I have seen applications come and go that attempted to replace my craft. Don’t get me wrong, they are pretty amazing, but one could always tell that something is off. Yes, there are applications that create copy for advertisements and even blogs.
Do we really need fundamentals?
So why is it that fundamentals are so important?
Simply put, a fundamental is what everything else is built on. If our fundamentals are wrong or we abuse the fundamental requirement for our business then we have problems. One of my favorite quotes about management is that people don’t quit jobs, they quit management. In other words, the final straw for someone to leave a job usually isn’t the task itself, it is the people in charge.
Often times, the mis-management of people actually has nothing to do with the manager’s skills or training, but their own desires. Go ahead and compare two managers in your head. Remember a good manager and a bad manager. Do you know the motive of each? I promise you that the bad manager probably had a desire for greed or self-satisfaction where the good manager had a more selfless approach to management.
This seems off topic
My goal as a writer is to help people become better versions of themselves through self-realization and inspiring them to use their own experiences to be stronger. It has recently come to my attention that we as a people are fundamental resources for the largest corporation on this planet.
The unfortunate part is that we are a resource to a corporation whose driving factor is greed. But here is the scary part, this is nothing new. We have been part of a greedy corporation since its foundation and we are being driven against each other for that greed.
I am no conspiracy theorist, but I have become painfully aware that we are victims and must unite to improve our situation.
