Love Dare Day 11: March 28, 2020

Cherish might be a challenge today. I Woke up today later than normal and having major back troubles so I thought it was going to be a bad day.

But then, I stayed the course and worked through my morning routine. Kids woke up pretty happy and have allowed me to continue to work through my routine.

Oddly enough, the pain is still there, but my mood has completely shifted.

My soap box for a morning routine that fills your soul.

What is Day 11 about:

Full disclosure here. If you have been on this journey with me or if you are reading the book yourself, this day might be pretty emotional.’

So get ready.

Love Dare day 11 is all about cherishing your spouse.

What do I think about the material:

As I just said, today’s material is quite emotional and the author does a beautiful job of painting a picture of what a real marriage is supposed to be like.

Part of the reason I think it is emotional to me is I see the opposite of this behavior all over society with my gender. Have you ever wondered why in a marriage it is tradition to adopt another’s name?

I am not sure where this originated, I am sure Google knows, but I love the symbolism behind it. In the Bible we are told to leave our parents and be joined as one. I think this is something that we often forget in marriage.

The chapter goes on to challenge us to think about this literally. Imagine how much better our relationships would be if we literally treated our significant other like we treat ourselves.

Even everyday things like chores would take a completely different turn. Would more difficult tasks become the ones that we volunteer to do first?

Don’t even get me started on the bedroom. What if everything we did when making love to our spouse was more about them and less about us! (Shameless plug for my ebook – Foreplay 101).

Closing this section, I want to quote the book as it drops a challenge, not the daily task, but a significant one.

“It’s time to let love change your thinking. It’s time for you to realize that your spouse is as much a part of you as your hand, your eye, or your heart. She, too, needs to be loved and cherished”

*tears*

What was my task and how did I perform the task:

Today’s challenge is to find an opportunity to tell your spouse that you cherish them.

Working from home has its advantages and one major advantage is I have many opportunities to drop words of encouragement to my wife.

Today I walked into the bedroom and began to compliment her intelligence and how she has a great business mind.

What was Jessica’s reaction:

At first, she basically didn’t even look up from her work on her phone. When I first started complimenting her and telling her that she is a badass, her eyebrows raised.

I took this as a sign and kept going. It was fun to watch her progression.

First eyebrows raised, then she cracked a little smile. Then, here is my favorite, she looked up and gave me a shy smile. It was absolutely adorable and reminded me of how Emily looks when we give her big compliments.
I think I can officially say she accepted the compliments.
