Love Dare Day 20: April 8, 2020
What is Day 8 about:
Love is the most mysterious emotions on the planet. I truly believe because its source is from a well that even the greatest minds can’t comprehend. Love is from God and day 20 talks all about it.
What do I think about the material:
As I develop myself as a writer, I often ask, “What is the overall theme to my writing?” I have written 3 self-help ebooks, a 2-act play, and I am working on a psychological thriller. The one common theme to all of these is love.
This is probably why the material in today’s chapter did not come as much of a surprise. The chapter begins by stating that we were loved simply by being created.
Think about that for a second.
We have it engrained in our society that in order for us to love someone, they must show themselves worthy. And in turn, someone can lose our love by doing something wrong against us.
But true love was given to us at our creation. We didn’t earn and we haven’t lost it. I know speaking for myself that I have done plenty of things for God to stop loving me.
In the book The Artist Way, the author stresses this aspect of our creator. We were created out of love and not out of function. Doesn’t this just blow your mind? I can’t remember the last time I did something purely, and I stress purely, out of love. Even the greatest philanthropists admit that there is a bit of selfishness built into all their good works.
Lastly, this book points out that not only did God create us out of love, but when we screwed it all up, he gave up his son to ensure one day we could be with him. Sorry to all my readers, but I am not capable of this depth of love so my sons are off limits. (Daughters too!)
The chapter concludes with a call to action to accept Christ as your savior. It points out that if we want to truly love our spouse or significant other, we must tap into the source of love. We are flawed human beings and need God’s love in order to share love with another person.
My task and how did I perform the task:
The task for today dares us to trust what God is saying, trust God for our salvation, and to pray a prayer of salvation.
I love that the book includes this in its content and the fact that it is halfway through the journey. I feel the rest of the book will depend on this decision.
I accepted Jesus as my savior twice in my life. What I mean by that is I was saved as a child based on my parents guidance, but when I was 17, I had an experience with God that solidified him in my heart.
Jess and I are raising our children to have the same experience and I am excited to watch them on this journey.
Jessica’s reaction:
Today was not a day for a reaction from her, so sadly nothing to share here.
